  • Safety meeting on campany time

    Hello,

I am new to the site, but was hoping that someone could help me with a question.

I thought that I saw somewhere on osha's site or some of their paperwork, that safety committee meetings are to be held during normal work hours and that the employees were to be paid for the meeting. For the life of me I cannot seem to find where this is. Can anyone please help me. Thanks.

  • Watch Maker Makes Time for Dust Collection Safety, Energy Savings
As a growing company in Malaysia, a watch manufacturer faced daunting health and safety challenges. One of the most concerning at Micro-Mechanics was the safety and well-being of the employees grinding and polishing their watch components. Buffing compounds, fibers released from the buffing wheel and minute metallic part…
  • Start with the basics

Safety doesn't just happen, it's a sustained culture that is learned and, like any learned behavior, it starts with listening.

Listening, however, doesn't stop once you've learned what you need to learn (not that learning ever stops).

Listening is key when it comes to safety on the worksite. Most warning signals are auditory in nature and workers need to consistently be listening for any and all warning cries, back-up alarms, etc…

In order to listen attractively, you need

  • OSHA Issues Final Rule on Cranes and Derricks in Construction
As of July 28, 2010 the Office of the Federal register has posted a
special filing of the final rule for OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1926 –
Supart N – Cranes and Derricks in Construction.  The change in this rule
came about due to the orginal rule (written in 1971) becoming more and
more obsolete as new technologies have developed in the last 39 years.
For example, in 1971 hyrdraulic cranes were very rarely used in
construction, whereas today they are considered the most prevelant form

  • Christians in Construction
Does anyone know of any established organizations for Christians in construction?  It seems like there are associations for a lot of various intersts, but I haven't been able to locate anything like this.  Maybe Christian Safety Professionals (CSP)?  :)  The BCSP probably wouldn't allow the use of the acronym.  If any of you have any ideas or know of anything it would be appreciated!
  • Fire Extinguishers
I have been researching potable fire extingusiher inspections. Currently an employee checks the extinguisher monthly and then an outside fire company does the annual inspection. We have a small satilite warehouse that only has a few extinguishers, and it would cheaper to replace them every year then to use an outside company. Would we still be in complience?
